    Canadian Association for American Studies 2025 online conference Call for Papers

    This online conference takes its title from Marvin Gayeā€™s masterpiece, "What's Going On," a choice precipitated in part by the election of Donald Trump in November 2024, for many of us are thinking about how to make sense of that event. The question ā€œwhatā€™s going on?ā€ asks for a description of the salient and defining features of a given historical moment, particularly the present, but it also gestures towards continuities from/within the past, namely divisions and struggles that have been ā€œgoing onā€ for some time.

    The IAAS annual conference will take place in Trinity College Dublin on 24-26 April 2025. The new deadline for receipt of abstracts is 15 March 2025.
