We are pleased to announce that the convenors of the North American History Seminar at the Institute of Historical Research are now accepting applications for the 2026 Iwan Morgan Prize.
This prize is awarded to a current or recently-completed doctoral student working on any aspect of North American History. Previous unsuccessful applicants for the award may apply again.
The winner will receive a small prize and deliver the Iwan Morgan Lecture, which will be delivered to the IHR North American History Seminar community on Thursday 18 June in the seminar’s regular 5.30pm slot.
The competition is open to doctoral students and early career researchers at all UK institutions, but preference may be given to regular attendees of the seminar. Travel expenses will be covered by the IHR.
To apply, please send a brief C.V. and a one-page lecture proposal to the convenors via David Sim (
david.sim@ucl.ac.uk) by Friday 8 May. The proposal should outline the content of the lecture, indicating historiographical context, elements of originality, and methodology/source base.
Please do share this call widely.
