Candidates must have the Ph.D. in History or related field in hand at the start of employment. Preference will be given to candidates dedicated to forging cross-disciplinary conversations with faculty in Africana Studies and Vassar’s other multidisciplinary programs, such as Women, Feminist, and Queer Studies. Teaching load in the first year is four courses; after that it is four courses plus a tutorial-style âintensive,â which may include supervision of senior theses.
