The Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed听Metropolitan Museum Journal听invites听submissions of original research on works听of art听in the Museum鈥檚 collection.
罢丑别鈥�Journal鈥痯耻产濒颈蝉丑别蝉鈥�Articles鈥痑苍诲鈥�Research Notes. Works of art from The Met collection should be central to the discussion.鈥�Articles鈥痗ontribute extensive and thoroughly argued scholarship鈥攁rt historical, technical, and scientific鈥攚hereas鈥�Research Notes鈥痑re narrower in scope, focusing on a specific aspect of new research or presenting a significant finding from technical analysis,听for听example. The maximum length鈥痜or鈥痑rticles is 8,000 words (including endnotes) and 10鈥�12 images, and鈥痜or鈥痳esearch notes 4,000 words (including endnotes) and 4鈥�6 images.
The听process of peer review is double-anonymous. Manuscripts are reviewed by the听闯辞耻谤苍补濒听Editorial Board, composed of members of the curatorial, conserva颅tion, and scientific departments, as well as scholars from the broader academic community.
Articles and Research Notes in the听Journal听appear in print and online, and are accessible in JStor on the听.
The deadline听for听submissions听for听Volume 61 (2025) is September 15, 2025.
