APG: The American Politics Group
Founded in 1974, and holding its first conference in January 1975 at the University of Keele, the American Politics Group (APG) is a Political Studies Association sub-group. It is the major professional organisation for researchers and lecturers in the UK whose work concentrates on the government and politics of the United States.
BrANCH: British American Nineteenth Century Historians
BrANCH, the Association of British American Nineteenth Century Historians, was established in 1993 in order to promote the study in Britain of the history of the United States between 1789 and 1917.
BrANCA: British Association of Nineteenth Century Americanists
BrANCA is a UK-based network of researchers, teachers, writers, and cultural critics engaged in progressive, interdisciplinary scholarship concerning American writing in the long nineteenth century.
British Association for Canadian Studies
Founded in 1975, the British Association for Canadian Studies (BACS) functions as a forum and meeting point for Canadian Studies in the United Kingdom. It is open to everyone who has an interest in Canada, and it holds an annual conference that combines a wide range of topics and distinguished speakers with an informal and friendly atmosphere.
BGEAH: British Group in Early American History
The organisers of BGEAH conceive of early America quite broadly, and include scholars working on North America and its Caribbean and Atlantic nodes and connections. The current leads are Dr Rachel Herrmann (Cardiff) and Dr Gareth Davies (Swansea)

BISA is a leading voice in International Studies in the UK and abroad. We develop and promote International Studies through our publications, research, academic networks and funding opportunities. The US Foreign Policy working group promotes the study, research and teaching of US foreign policy in the UK. It is open to all BISA members. We hold an annual conference as well as other seminars and workshops, and are especially interested in exchanges between scholars and practitioners of US foreign policy.
EAAS: European Association for American Studies
The European Association for American Studies is a confederation of national and joint national associations of American Studies in Europe. It was founded at Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, in 1954. Each of the 22 member associations from 35 countries is represented on the EAAS Board.
EEASA: European Early American Studies Association
EEASA was founded in 2006 when a first European conference was held in Paris (University Paris Diderot), bringing together European and North American scholars. EEASA focuses on research on the history and culture of the North American continent from the exploration and founding of the first colonies to 1850.
Faulkner Studies in the UK
Faulkner Studies in the UK is a scholarly research network dedicated to the work of American modernist author William Faulkner. The Network was established in November 2017 in cooperation with the Department of English at Royal Holloway, University of London, the Â鶹AV (BAAS), and the US Embassy, London.
HOTCUS: Historians of the Twentieth Century United States
Historians of the Twentieth Century United States (HOTCUS) exists to facilitate and promote scholarship in the field of twentieth century American history.
Presidential History Network
The Presidential History Network was organized in 2013 to serve the needs of scholars interested in the United States’ presidency, individual presidents, and corollary interests in the institutional, political or cultural history of the American polity. It hosts annual meetings, shares news of publications and events, and connects academics with media outlets.
SAVAnT: Scholars of Visual Arts and Texts
Founded as a network in 2014, SAVAnT is now the CHASE doctoral school in American art and visual culture, exploring how Art History intersects with American Studies and other relevant disciplines. SAVAnT seeks to map the lines that lie across and between Art History, Visual Culture, and American Studies in all historical periods, and across the Americas broadly defined.
SASA: Scottish Association for the Study of America
The Scottish Association for the Study of America (SASA) was formed in 1999 to encourage the study of North America in Scotland.
SHAW: Society for the History of Women in the Americas
The Society for the History of Women in the Americas (SHAW) is a scholarly association dedicated to the historical investigation of women and gender in North America, South America and the Caribbean, either within or between nation states and/or the northern or southern hemispheres.
TSA: Transatlantic Studies Association
The TSA was created in 2002 to bring together scholars for whom the ‘transatlantic’ is an important frame of reference for their work in a variety of disciplines, including (but not limited to): history, politics and international relations, and literary studies.
